Seated intercambio in the Born

Approximately 30 people attend our Thursday intercambios (members can sign-up via different websites so don't worry if you don't see many people signed up).

What

Note on Thursdays we also add a little "French Corner" to our regular English/Spanish intercambios. The French corner is often downstairs and the English/Spanish upstairs

How do Thursday SEATED intercambios work?

Seated intercambios: (Intercambios sentados) At our Thursday intercambios we meet & greet everyone as they enter, give them a name tag and assign a table at which to sit. You will be joined by 3-4 other internationals. This allows us to balance languages at tables. After about 45 minutes the organizer passes by to collect payment whilst also checking that the table dynamics are working. Note: Please order a drink upon arrival and wait for the organizer to ask everyone to move upstairs.

• Where: Upstairs in Bar Borneo-C/Rec 49 (next to Sandwich & Friends)


• Nearest metro: Bar Borneo is halfway between Barceloneta (L4) and Jaume I (L4) metros.


• Bar Borneo: Please order a drink and wait downstairs until the organizer requests everyone to go upstairs. Bar Borneo does not serve food... but they have 30 varieties of Gin & Tonics! After our intercambio, regulars often go for pizza or tapas in the area.

DISCOUNTS: We offer 1€ discounts to native and near-native English speakers who offer English for Spanish.

Price for intercambio 1st timers with or without online reservations:

• English 1st timers wanting Spanish: FREE


• Españoles/Catalanes que vienen por primera vez a uno de nuestros intercambios para practicar su inglés: 2€

Price WITH online RSVP (reservations):

• Fluent English speakers wanting Spanish: 3€ (that's 1€ off for RSVPing)


• Españoles/Catalanes que buscan practicar su inglés: 4€*

* Porque tan solo ofrecéis descuentos a los angloparlantes que buscan español?!
La ventaja es que con tal que llegues a la hora (con máximo 10 minutos de retraso) os damos prioridad en el caso que tengamos un "surplus" de Españoles/Catalanes buscando inglés.

Es discriminación positiva :-) Queremos animar a mas Anglo-parlantes a participar. Damos aún mas razones en nuestra sección de FAQ.

BASIC INTERCAMBIO INFORMATION

Entrance to intercambio includes:

• Meet & greet by the organizer (come alone or with a friend, we make sure you meet at least 4-5 others)


• "Language bells" to ensure equal&fair language practice time for all languages.


• Notepads to write down (apuntar) new vocabulary, expressions, good websites etc... and a dictionary - one dictionary per venue.

Entrance to intercambio does NOT include: a drink However in return for using the bar everyone needs to order a drink before the start of the intercambio/language exchange.
