FAQs & INFO – Activities

There is no need to reserve for our language exchanges, simply show-up at the correct time and place.

Some Activities require pre-payment, others you can pay on the day. It all depends on the nature of the activity. View the activity detailed description for more information.

Cash at one of our intercambios:

The first 45 minute of our intercambios are when the organizer is most busy, so please try to arrive halfway into our language exchanges to pay for upcoming activities.

• When you pay, the organizer will write down your name on his/her list as paid and communicate it to me.
• Please make sure you give the organizer your full name, email address and contact number.
• If you are paying for a friend, please make you give the organizer their full name, email address and contact number.

If you regularly attend English Oasis events (intercambios and / or activities) you may want to consider buying a 30€ pre-payment voucher. For your 30€ you get 36€ worth of credit and each time you come to an intercambio or an activity, we go discounting the amount until you have no credit left. Ask Germaine for more information.

Bank transfer

The English Oasis has a “La Caixa” bank account to which you can transfer payment for activities.

• Remember to enter your name and the name of the activity you are reserving so that when we check, we know exactly who paid for what. If we do not have this information, we cannot hold a spot for you and will give preference to others whose full details we have.
• The English Oasis’ acct # is: Entitat 2100, Oficina 1841, Control 06 Compte: 0100478886
• After paying by bank transfer, please send us an email with your name, email and telephone number to confirm payment. We are meticulous with other’s people’s money and do not want to make any errors.
• For international accounts, our IBAN / BIC is : ES87 2100 1841 0601 0047 8886 / CAIXESBBXXX
• Note: If we receive your bank transfer after the event is full, we will refund you money in cash at one of the intercambios or to a “La Caixa” bank account. We cannot always transfer refunds to accounts that are not La Caixa. It is your responsibility to ensure that your transfer arrives by the stipulated payment date.

PayPal

Not yet an option, sorry. Once we are confident our new website is functioning correctly and stable, we plan to also allow payment via PayPal…but we don’t expect this to happen until 2012.

We have been running activities for some time now and those who know us know we are fair about refunds.  But it is always good to have have refund policies written somewhere for members’ references.

Errrr….just to note that we will obviously only refund monies that we ie: the English Oasis received.  If you paid someone else then obviously chase it us with that person / entity.  OK…so the official line is as follows:

Bad weather cancellations

The most unpredictables of unpredictables for outdoor events.  If bad weather forces us to cancel the event we will of course refund your money.  However “we” must cancel the event, not you (we are reasonable, don’t worry, we don’t like walking around in the rain any more than you do!).

Illness / Travel / Meetings & other unpredictables

This is a difficult one.  We would first ask you to try to get a friend to take your place.  Then, depending on the reason and our arrangements with the exterior organizer, we will try to refund you most of your money minus the English Organising fee (usually 2€-6€).  But we are fair…be nice to us and we’ll be nice to you!

How we refund your hard-earned money:

If you are stopping by one of our intercambios: please understand that the first 30 minutes of our intercambios are very busy , so if you are only stopping by to collect your refunds, please arrive after the first 30 minutes of intercambios.

For Cash Payments: Please come to one of our intercambios within a month of the cancellation to collect your refund.  For larger refunds please email us before you come so that we can make sure we have your cash ready (we don’t usually carry bags of cash around ).

For payments received via bank transfers we can only refund directly into “La Caixa” accounts.  If you paid via bank transfer from a “non-la-Caixa account” please come to one of our intercambios so that we can refund your money in cash.

If you regularly attend English Oasis events (intercambios and / or activities) you may want to consider buying a 30€ pre-payment voucher card.  You get 6€ off!  That’s 6€ for free!

Advantages:

• Convenience.  No more looking for change.
• You can reserve for our activities by emailing the organiser saying that you want to reserve and pay with your loyalty card.  We will simply deduct the cost of the activity.  Ask Germaine for the “loyalty card”.
• You can pay for a friend!
• Valid for one year from Issue date

For your 30€ you get 36€ worth of credit and each time you come to an intercambio or an activity, we go discounting the amount until you have no credit left.
